The system
Two stages in one tank, which is what mixed bed means. A softener takes the hardness out, carbon takes out the chlorine taste and smell. It sits where the water enters the house, rinses itself, and keeping the salt cabinet filled is the only job it leaves you.
The drinking water stage
Reverse osmosis goes under the kitchen sink, on its own faucet. The house gets two stages, your drinking and cooking water gets a third. More on the RO system
